In February 1940 Margaret Bourke-White’s first female war photographer made ​​for LIFE magazine, an impressive series of photographs from Romania. Among them, many are dedicated to Peles Castle in Sinaia. Photos capture the exteriors and the interiors of a castle built at the wish of King Carol I, between 1873 and 1914 . Peles domain with its buildings (Peles Castle, Pelişor and Foisor) were built from personal money of King Carol I, who has sold a possession in Germany to pay the costs of land and raising Castle.
