New metro trains in Bucharest

The company Metrorex, the Bucharest metro system operator, has awarded CAF in 2011 the contract to supply 16 metro units with the option of a further 8 trains.

These new trains will provide service on the new line 5 of the Bucharest metro and each will consist of 6 cars. With a capacity of 1,200 passengers along its 114 m of length with an unobstructed gangway along the entire train, running at a maximum speed of 80 km/h with a third rails energy capture system of 750 Vdc.

The units will be delivered as of 2013.

These are vehicles designed for mass passenger transit, with the standard maximum quality and safety levels, and can be accessed by persons with reduced mobility, with two areas for wheelchair users.
