Bucharest under allied bombings

The tragic event happened 1944, when more than 5,000 died in Bucharest along the 17 aerial bombing of the capital, remains one of the biggest disasters in the history of the city.

During 1944 the city was bombed by allied troupes but also by the German Luftwaffe . 

The Bucharest World War II bombings were primarily Allied bombings of railroad targets and those of the Oil Campaign of World War II, but included a bombing by Nazi Germany after the royal coup. Bucharest stored and distributed much of Ploiesti’s refined oil products.
